Commission Info

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 17, 2007, 10:10 AM

OK. An uuuuupdate.

Are these open or closed? I can't say.

If I put a big sign saying OPEN! then I'll get deluged with a trillion people demanding massive pixels and other tricky things.

... and already I'm sick of some peoples' extremely rude over-reactions when I've politely turned down something, due to my sheer lack of time lately.

But on the other hand, I'm not completely closed to all ideas.
Again, things are busy lately, but I do occasionally agree to do a commission.

It all depends on what's being asked for, really.

If it's some massive fancy animation, and I have very little time, then it would be stupid for me to try and promise it anytime soon. I can't see the future, I don't know when I'll have tons of free drawing time again.

If it's just something nice and easy, and fast, like a cell-shaded character drawing, or even just a sketch or lineart or something, then I'll probably accept.

So if you're really still wanting a commission, please send me a private note with at least some basic idea of what you're wanting.

I can't give a definite, honest Yes or No until I have those basics. :)

And either way, please keep an open mind. If I do unfortunately say no, at least for the moment, don't freak out! In the future you're welcome to ask again, hopefully I'll have time then.

If I get any more chunks of abuse and rage thrown at me for not having time/confidence to take on something ambitious, then I will just close all commissions, to strangers at least.

Don't make me do that, please. xD

(Now I'll tidy this page up, and hide the old, redundant comments all asking the exact same thing.)

... and where are the prices?!

To be honest, I thought (or knew...) my prices were ridiculously low.

Hours and hours of detailed work, for the usual mere 5 or so? :noes:

Sorry, but I just can't keep doing that! It's crazy, and unfair.

For normal drawings: I guess the new "minimum" will be 10.

For sketches and linearts, which are wonderfully easy and fast, the old 5 will be fine.

For anything involving pixel art or animation, at least... 15? 20? Not sure yet.

I don't normally do completely-new, custom avatars any more. 5 might be a good base though. Rising to 10 if there's tons of tiny fancy animation packed in there!

And even then, I see other artists charging much, MUCH higher for similar kinds of art - and still getting commissioned by the dozen.
I could (should...) charge much more, still. Maybe I'm just too soft, or nervous about my own ability.

Eh. We'll see. Let's just try and stick to those new minimums, at least!

OK, so. What sorts of things will you draw, or not?

:bulletgreen: Horses or dragons are easiest.
:bulletgreen: Most other animals are welcome too. Might not be perfect, but I'll try!
:bulletgreen: Humans are also fine - though I know I really need to upload some examples first.

:bulletred: My Little Pony. Anything to do with it, or its "style". No.
:bulletred: Anything too mature, or that could possibly highly offend lots of people.

I don't charge any more for an extra character or two, or for detailed or difficult characters. Details and weirdness are good!

Looking for a simple avatar to use, on this site? Before thinking of commissioning, check out some of these. There might already be something that you like.

Free avatars: Jumping by BronzeHalo Free avatars: horse colours by BronzeHalo Free avatars: Gallop by BronzeHalo

:bulletgreen: And you may prefer to use/customise one of these free avatars/bases yourself, before commissioning me.

Free icon: phoenix by BronzeHalo Free icon: Reindeer by BronzeHalo White wolf icon by BronzeHalo Free icon base: cantering by BronzeHalo Canter icon-base by BronzeHalo :thumb88656208:

(Please be aware that any other icons in my gallery are not for free use. Only those above are.)

Large pixel pieces

Peadragon by BronzeHalo Sun King by BronzeHalo Fenicuine by BronzeHalo Ystlumina by BronzeHalo

These are drawn in MS Paint and/or Photoshop CS3.
I can work entirely in either program. PS is much easier/faster, though.

They can have a small amount of animation; a blinking eye, or sheen/glow.
They can also have a simple background if you like.
Palette can be restricted, or I will use as many colours as reasonably needed.

Possible price: -----

Small animated characters

Rhada by BronzeHalo Two-tailed Goldwing by BronzeHalo Common Unifly by BronzeHalo Spyro the Dragon by BronzeHalo

These are drawn in Photoshop CS3.
The size is 150x150 or smaller.
Usually from 5 to 20 frames each.
They can adhere to strict, neat pixel-art rules (see the Unifly) or not (see the gold dragon).

Possible price: -----

Sort of depends on the complexity, number of frames.

Small animated scenes (with backgrounds)

Snowy Sprint by BronzeHalo Breezy Morning by BronzeHalo Starlite by BronzeHalo Fire Magic by BronzeHalo

These are drawn in Photoshop CS3.
The size is 150x150 or smaller.
Usually from 8 to 40 frames each.
The amount of character movement can vary (example 1 is extreme).
The focus is more on background/environment movement and detail.

Possible price: -----

Digital drawings (with lineart, cell-shading).

Full background:
Not Quite Heaven by BronzeHalo Original Creation by BronzeHalo Summertime by BronzeHalo Ocean Temple by BronzeHalo

Simple/no background:
:thumb317326625: Old Warrior by BronzeHalo

These are drawn in Paint Tool SAI (lineart) and Photoshop CS3 (rest).
Any size from 400 to 2000 pixels, as a rough idea.
Can have one character or several.
Background is optional; can be a simple texture or full scene.

Possible price, with background: -----

This means a full scene-background, as seen in the examples.

Possible price, without: -----

This can mean a simple textured/coloured background, or just the character(s) by themselves, in a plain transparent background.

For example, the horse at the top of this journal.

Digital drawings (without the above)

Equus Alba by BronzeHalo Harris Horse by BronzeHalo :thumb306011118: Snowpaloosa by BronzeHalo

Mystic Branch by BronzeHalo Storm Chaser by BronzeHalo Sun dragon by BronzeHalo Griffon by BronzeHalo

These are drawn in Photoshop CS3.
Any size from 400 to 2000 pixels, as a rough idea.
Can have one character or several.
Usually comes with background; simple texture or full scene.

Possible price: -----

These take longer than the more cartoony kind.

I generally prefer if you pay after the commission is done.

Real money payments must be done with PayPal.

If you don't want to deal with real money, I sometimes accept dA :points:.

Ahh it's alright, ask if you want! :aww: As long as it's not massive and/or "very animated", I'm sure I can find time to draw/design something for you. Send me a note with the details, if you like?
