Huh, why's it twice as fast now? Oh well

Yuh, just another mini animation... that was started sometime last year. ._.
Last night all I did was tidy it up and finish it off. Tired of the file sitting there, taunting me.

Always wanted to animate this character. His markings are a bit annoying, but hey.
The lines in the sky are (were) rings around that planet, if anyone wonders...

Chara (Mys) and animation are mine. Photoshop CS3, 21 frames.
Please DO NOT use this in any way! It's for nobody else's use. P*** off, lurking thieves. -_-

Edit: What. Hooooly crap. I go away for a few hours, and now this is scarily popular. o.o Messagesplosion!
Wow, um, thanks for so much support! :heart: I don't think this piece is anything special, but eh...

How much frames are in the animiation?

I do adore this one c: I think possibly why so many people like this (even if you're not so fond) is that the movement of the head and the reach of the forelegs combined with the uphill slope really contribute to it looking the horse is putting in loads of effort. That and the underlighting, perfect movement of the mane and the STAR THEME THING are all awesome >3>

THIS IS AMAZING! The running is 100% spot on realism. La la la la Love

Thanks! :giggle: Although it's not quite realistic... the leg movements are in the wrong order, a horse doesn't run like that. But it looked better this way, so that's why I went along with it. xD

Hey, it's convincing enough to me xD

You're animating in Photoshop yes?
What format/file/blah do you export it as? I'm only able to do GIFs and they mess up the color quality. Yours looks so nice, that's why I wonder. ^^;

I use Photoshop, yes, and always GIF. Indeed, the 256 colour limit can be a pain.

While drawing the animations, I often try hard to re-use similar/same colours. For example in "Common Unifly" I used a small, fixed palette. In this piece I was careful to always draw the horse's gold marks and glow with the same yellow-colour brush. Not a different kind of orange, or white. Every little bit of similar-colour helps, where possible. ;)

Then in the exporting stage, I make thorough use of the window's optimisation features. Dithering, and other options. They can really help preserve quality sometimes.

... though occasionally, no matter what I try, the quality ends up terrible. It's just a GIF thing.  :s  Unless you use a strict palette the whole time, some colours and quality will have to go.
