Free deer sketch by BronzeHalo Free deer sketch by BronzeHalo
Well um... I really can't understand why my last animation was so popular.
Think the reaction is way overblown! Or maybe I was just so tired of seeing it... dunno.

Anyway, a bunch of people noted me wanting more anims. Run cycles are a very common request.
Honestly I don't feel like doing a billion of those, so sketched a simple base you can try editing yourself. :)
Draw your own lines, add details and colours, whatever. Just credit me for the original sketch, please.

It could be any long-tailed deerish creature, or another Fawnling.
Maybe I will finish this, just one, like a custom "your character here". At least 15 USD. Any offers?

More free lines and stuff here.
Can do more animation-sketches in future, feel free to suggest creatures...

It's a GIF, so you need either an art program that can open them, or use a free online tool like this to extract the frames, and download those images instead. Then open them all in your animation program, and start drawing your additions on new layers.

Well, since this is only a sketch and not a lineart, it's basically a free to use base to create your own animation (and colour each layer).
If you have no excperience with this type of thing, you should search for animation tutorials. :)

Might I make creature suggestions? Feel free to not, as it's not a request or a commission, just a simple suggestion, but there are lots of cool species here: lok-fan-group.deviantart.com/g… if you're interested. ^^

Do you have any tips on finalising animations? I can't work out for the life of me how to not have white outlines on anything that's not a pixel outline and it usually ruins them in the end for me. :c

:iconbronzehalo:
BronzeHalo Featured By Owner Jul 13, 2016
By finalising, do you mean saving (exporting) as a GIF?

There will always be a white "outline", because GIF format can't handle soft semi-transparency like PNG images do, for example. There's only one channel/colour for it. Either a pixel is 100% empty and transparent, or it's not, and it will be filled in with white behind whatever's in it. So it ends up creating a hard edge around soft lines as they "fade out".

Only solutions are: animated PNGs (which don't work in many browsers) or make sure your outlines are either solid pixels, or hard-ish so the white bits are minimal.

Yeah I meant saving. I had kind of figured all that out already I was just wondering if you would have any different solutions since your deer animation turned out so well. Thank you so much for the reply though!

Use a "GIF splitting" software or website.
For example: ezgif.com/split/3ab6856c7a.gif that should work. :)

How would you color under the layers? Any specific program i'd need? SAI won't do it ; v ;''

:iconbronzehalo:

SAI doesn't have any animation function/support. Neither does FireAlpaca. Without the ability to view the list of frames, it'll be very hard to compare and draw the linearts consistently.

Best to use Photoshop, Flash or (maybe) GIMP. You could just sketch the lines/details faintly and then re-open the file in SAI to draw them more neatly, if you really want to use SAI's smooth brushes.

If it wouldn't be any trouble, I would like a running cycle of my fawnlings. It can be a sketch~ I can pay more if you'd like to make it fully finished.

It is so fun that this showed up in my inbox today, i've been working on a run cycle all week, and finally got the body and head movements right. I'm struggling a LOT with the tail though. I didn't know if you had any advice?
Its a wolf-based anatomy of the run, but the tail is about twice the body length. I'm trying to get a fluid, almost whip like snap with the tail and every attempt i've made is completely awful.

I don't know much about wolf movement, but for any long tail... are you familiar with drawing the "wave" sort of motion?
This is a bad example resource.isvr.soton.ac.uk/spcg…
but maybe you get the idea. Imagine the tail is a long piece of bendy string or wire, and the body is pulling one end, so when the body jolts or moves around, the motion flows along the tail like a wave.

For realism, try to get the tail "wave" aligned with the body's. If the wolf is just running along the ground, rather than leaping high, the tail should follow with a shallow/subtle movement. users.cecs.anu.edu.au/~Gerard.… Not dramatically twirling around.

It's a bit hard to advise any more without seeing the animation you've got so far.

Ahh gosh! Thank you for responding!! I made a sta.sh to show you, i'm still having issues.
I think it may be easier if I had another program to use, because its hard flipping back and forth with the frames in sai ;-;
The anatomy and run style, i based it on wolves, but the character isn't actually a wolf, so there is some changes.

sta.sh/220826tfi169?edit=1

I understand the wave thing, thats what i've been trying to accomplish but i can't seem to get it right. I want the movement to be quick but flowing?
Thank you for helping me ;-;

I would definitely buy a ych of this for my character <3 and I could definitely do 15 but that would be too little, how about 20 or 25..? If you haven't already had the ych claimed of course :)
